What is the difference between your Virgin and Raw collections?

Both collections are made from 100% human hair and designed to deliver a natural, high-quality finish — the difference comes down to processing, texture consistency, and longevity.

Our Virgin Collection offers a more refined and uniform look. The hair has undergone minimal processing to achieve consistent patterns, making it ideal for those who prefer a polished, predictable style with easier maintenance.


Our Raw Collection is our highest quality offering. It is designed for exceptional longevity, resulting in a fuller feel, more natural variation, and hair that can last 3–5 years with proper care. Each bundle is unique, delivering a more authentic and elevated look.

How many bundles do I need?

The number of bundles needed depends on your desired length and level of fullness.

  • 12”–18”: 2–3 bundles for a natural, full look
  • 20”–26”: 3 or more bundles for a complete, voluminous install
  • 28”–30”: 4 or more bundles for a full, balanced finish

For a fuller, more elevated look — especially with longer lengths — we recommend 3–4 bundles or more.

Every install is different, but our clients typically choose more bundles as length increases to maintain fullness from root to ends.

Can the hair be colored or bleached?

Does the hair shed or tangle?

All human hair will experience some minimal shedding over time. However, our bundles are carefully constructed to reduce shedding and maintain a smooth, manageable finish.

With proper care and maintenance, the hair remains soft, full, and easy to manage, and tangling should not occur.

How long does the hair last?

With proper care, Essence Hair is designed for long-term use and can be worn across multiple installs.

Our Virgin Collection typically lasts 12 months or longer, maintaining a polished and consistent look with proper maintenance.

Our Raw Collection is our highest quality offering and is designed for extended longevity, lasting 3 to 5 years with proper care.

Longevity will always depend on maintenance, styling habits, and overall care.

How should I care for the hair?

Essence Hair should be treated with the same level of care you would give high-quality natural hair in order to preserve its softness, movement, and longevity.

We recommend washing the hair gently with a sulfate-free shampoo, followed by a moisturizing conditioner. Detangle carefully from ends to roots using a wide-tooth comb or detangling brush, and allow the hair to air dry whenever possible. Heat styling can be used, but should be kept to a minimum to help maintain the integrity of the hair over time.

To keep the hair looking its best, avoid excessive product buildup, sleep with the hair protected, and store it properly when not in use. With proper maintenance, the hair will remain soft, manageable, and beautiful through multiple wears and installs.

The hair feels absolutely soft and beautiful but it’s feels processed and not from the same donor, which my stylist even agreed. It also doesn’t feel as full as other hair I’ve purchased in the past but to be fair, it was a different boutique. I do like a little or slight texture to my weave since I have type 4 hair but know how to blend it in with my natural leave out.
